CLOSE UP DETAILS
Each of us was assigned a design-oriented brand and a theoretical framework to design a window display that takes the essence and forms a shape.
BRAND
CLIENT
MAISON MARGIELA
As an avant-garde brand, Margiela has always pushed the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm. In Tabi shoes, the designer created an illusion of bare feet which not only encapsulates the principle of “Anonymity” , but also, stylistically approached the Japanese Tabi socks as boots.
FRAMEWORK
THEORY/ PRACTITIONER
MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ
Exploring the themes of trust and endurance, Marina Abramović’s work typically aims to cut down the distance between the artist and the audience by making her own body the medium. After “Urgent Dance”, she re-performed to educate the younger generation of the uniqueness of each message.
THINKING THROUGH MAKING
“ In order to make something, you have, first, to think it. With the hold of the thought at the fourth realm your mind as you work with your material.”
-Tim Ingold-
Approaching via this methodology, the ideation development is communicated through processes and originality through a series of explorations that translates and encourages tactility.

DESIGNED TEXTILE PATTERN
By collaging “The Urgent Dance”, performed in her 50th birthday and the footprints of the infamous tabi boots, the repetition has complimented the essence of Abramović’s re-performances.

FINALISED WINDOW
In the process of scaling up the processes from A6 to A1, the use of materials are refined from plaster of Paris (POP) to putty-coated foam base.
Portraying Margiela's grunge techniques, the display emits all the essences of raw, shock and heaviness.
Representing Abramović, repetition has clearly been embedded deeply into the surface. A performer's bold movement was incorporated as a suggestive manner to convey a message to push something further and never be limited to what is expected.
